Another beer this week! Why not?
This time it’s an amber: O’So Brewery’s Rusty Red. It’s a perfect name. (If I’m honest, perfect names seem the rule in Wisconsin microbrews.) That little bit of grittines and breadiness could absolutely be described as “rusty.”
Before you taste it though, on the nose is a slightly misleading hint of berry sweetness, as though the beer were kissed by red wine.
Contrasted with the ultimate weight and chewiness of this surprising red, that sweetness balances it all out into a fine, complete whole. The result is a beer that’s like jazz, with lots of moving parts that resolve into a satisfying, smile-on-your face finish, and while it feels like candy, it fills you like steak dinner.
